MONS, Belgium — The Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) change of command ceremony from General John Craddock to Admiral James Stavridis – presided over by Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer – will take place at SHAPE on 2 July at 14:00.
Media are invited to cover the ceremony which will be held on the lawn in front of the main entrance to the headquarters building. Admiral Stavridis will conduct a 10-minute, informal media opportunity immediately following the ceremony.
All media representatives must pre-register for entrance to SHAPE by completing the registration form and returning it to the SHAPE Public Affairs Office by 13:00 on Monday, 29 June.
On 2 July, all media must arrive at the Berlin Gate visitor centre no later than 11:00 to complete the security check-in. Media will be met by a Public Affairs Escort Officer at the Berlin Gate who will give directions to the appropriate parking and media set-up areas.
Note to Editors: There will be two, media-pen locations with risers to ensure line-of-sight during the ceremony. Media may move freely between these two locations. One of these will be equipped with audio feed for the informal media opportunity immediately after the ceremony. As the ceremony will be held outside, media should be prepared for inclement weather.
