The Commander of the NATO Task Force patrolling the waters off Somalia as part of NATO's counter-piracy operation, code-named Ocean Shield, had the opportunity to speak with Puntland authorities yesterday on board NATO flag ship HMS CHATHAM.

HOHENFELS, Germany – Troops from 13 countries have participated in Operational Mentor and Liaison Team (OMLT) training at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center. The training exercise gave NATO countries' troops a chance to experience mentoring, coaching and teaching actual Afghan National Army soldiers.

Admiral James Stavridis, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), visited Sweden from 10 -11 May on the invitation of the Chief of Defence of the Swedish Armed Forces, General Sverker Göranson.

After visiting Sweden, Admiral James Stavridis, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) travelled to Finland from 11 -12 May, at the invitation of Chief of Defence of the Finnish Armed Forces, General Ari Puheloinen.  He also had a meeting with the President of the Republic, Mrs. Tarja Halonen.

In February, Admiral James Stavridis participated in an online "Security Jam” forum, discussing security issues affecting international peace. Adm. Stavridis' insights and ideas were highlighted in a recently released report of the top ten recommendations published by the Security and Defence Agenda, a Brussels-based think tank, according to National Journal Group's website "nextgov."
