DR. OSCAR SOLERA
Dr. Oscar Solera is a Human Rights Officer with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, where he deals, among other things, with the relationship between human rights law and international humanitarian law. He also served as Human Rights Officer for the UN Human Rights Council Commission of Inquiry on Lebanon.
Prior to joining OHCHR, Dr. Solera was Deputy Director & Legal Adviser at the Centre for Applied Studies in International Negotiations in Geneva, Switzerland. From 1999 to 2001 he taught law to undergraduate students in international relations at the University of Geneva. From 1993 to 1997 he served as Special Assistant to the Costa Rican National Ombudsman.
Dr. Solera obtained his Ph.D. in international law from the Graduate Institute of International Studies (IUHEI). He also holds Master's degree in international relations from the Graduate Institute of International Studies (IUHEI) and a degree in law from the University of Costa Rica.
