Admiral Stavridis Meets with Top Defense Leaders in Prague

Prague, Czech Republic - Admiral James Stavridis made his first visit to the Czech Republic as the Supreme Allied Commander Europe March 29 and 30.
 
In a press conference Admiral Stavridis said,  "I have tremendous respect for what the Czech people and the Czech Armed Forces achieved in the 11 years since the Czech Republic's accession to NATO."

During his visit he met Prime Minister Jan Fischer; Minister of Defense Martin Bartak; the Chief of Defense, General Vlastimil Picek; other senior officers; and President Vaclav Klaus.

"I would like to thank the Czech Republic for providing considerable support and valuable contributions to NATO missions," said Stavridis. "Your troops are doing magnificent work in Afghanistan, Kosovo and air policing operations and I'm impressed with what I've heard from the Chief of Defense about the transformation of the Czech Republic forces."
