KHAN NESHIN, Afghanistan – Afghans in Khan Neshin district are kneeling in front of the work of their fellow countrymen. Afghan construction workers, contracted in partnership with the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and coalition forces, refurbished a grand mosque, which was once a crumbling ruin in the secluded village of Khan Neshin.

A memorial was unveiled Saturday, 25 February, in Fréthun, in the North of France, to honour those who died in operations under the NATO flag, passing on their memory to future generations, and fostering further international collaboration concerning war operations and their commemoration.
Lt Gen Richard Tieskens starts as new Chief of Staff at JFC Brunssum

Today, 28 February, a walk-in ceremony was held at NATO Allied Joint Force Command (JFC) Brunssum to welcome Lieutenant General Richard G. Tieskens. Lieutenant General Tieskens succeeds Lieutenant General Jouke L.H. Eikelboom as the new Chief of Staff JFC Headquarters Brunssum.

Located at SHAPE Headquarters in Mons, Belgium, the NATO Special Operations Headquarters (NSHQ) was set up to coordinate NATO's Special Operations and to optimise the employment of Special Forces. It has one of the most diverse multinational compositions within NATO. NATO Partnership for Peace (PfP) member Austria and the NATO ‘contact country' of Sweden have also recently assigned personnel to the NSHQ.

It contains equipment for monitoring and controlling electronic warfare, fire control, sonar, radar – the full spectrum of detection and analytical sensors. Under the distinctive red-colored lighting, there is constant activity that continues 24/7 while the ship is sailing.
Building the plane while flying: Advising at the Afghan National Army Signals School

The work of the Afghan National Army Signals School Training Advisory Team can be described as "building the plane while flying it.” The advisory team consists of 42 coalition personnel. Twenty-eight are Canadian, and the remainder are from Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Belgium. Our role is to advise the ANA leadership and staff at the Signals School and help improve the quality and effectiveness of training at the school.
