HELMAND PROVINCE, Afghanistan— Improvised explosive devices have changed the way the Marine Corps engages hostile forces. The need has risen for supplies to reach the most remote parts of Afghanistan quickly, reliably and safely.

Stavanger, Norway, 15 May 2012 (MY). Today a group of distinguished visitors composed of Commanders from NATO headquarters and armed forces of NATO member countries traveled to NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) in Stavanger, Norway to observe the exercise STEADFAST JOIST 2012 (SFJT 12).

The Headquarters of Kosovo Force (HQ KFOR) is located in Pristina/Prishtine, the capital city of Kosovo. It supports the NATO-led mission of 30 nations and approximately 6,226 peacekeepers. HQ KFOR publishes a monthly "KFOR Chronicles." While some articles are primarily of interest to people within the KFOR community, the majority provide information on the mission, great photos of peacekeepers at work, and news stories about Kosovo Force.

KABUL, Afghanistan — Afghan pilots now have a state-of-the-art MI-17 helicopter simulator here to hone their aviation skills in a safe environment.

KABUL, Afghanistan (May 13, 2012) — The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) welcomes the release of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan's list of areas intended for the third stage of the transition of security responsibility in the country.

NATO OPEN DAYS is a five day event to be held 15 - 19 May, with the goal to provide to the wider public more information about NATO Alliance, NATO integration processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, activities of NATO HQ SARAJEVO in 2011/2012 period, and to mark 60th anniversary of Turkish membership in NATO.

The Dutch Navy frigate HNLMS Evertsen left the port of Den Helder 10 May for Somali waters to combat piracy as part of NATO anti-piracy mission Ocean Shield. Her mission will start in June.
