BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan - A U.S. Special Operations Female Treatment Team, partnered with Afghan Commandos and local doctors, conducted a medical outreach clinic in Saraw village, Uruzgan Province, May 28.

Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina supported by NATO Headquarters Sarajevo organized a fundraising event for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan on the evening of 24 May in the Army Hall. Attending the event were members of the AFBiH, defense attaches, members of the diplomatic corps, including High Representative Valentin Inzko and US Ambassador Patrick Moon.

Present Commander KFOR, General Erhard Bühler, and former Commander KFOR, General Roland Kather (2006-2007), together with Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, attended the Holy Mass and ceremony marking the consecration of the new Roman Catholic Church in Klina and its altar.

Lieutenant General Michael Ferriter, Commander of the NATO Training Mission in Iraq (NTM-I), visited SHAPE Headquarters on 25 May and met with Admiral James Stavridis, Supreme Allied Commander Europe, and General Sir Richard Shirreff, Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe, to discuss ongoing NATO military mission in Iraq.

The issue of civilian casualties demands the continued attention of every leader and trooper in Afghanistan. Indeed, no issue highlights more the need to balance tactical aggressiveness with tactical patience - both of which are critical to achieving our objectives.

On 18th of May 2011, a Russian Delegation including the Chief of the Russian Counter-Piracy Mission Captain First Rank Vladimir A. Kondratov, Commander of the Russian Federation Navy anti-submarine warship "SEVEROMORSK” Captain First Rank Andrey V. Klimenko, and Russian Defense Attaché Colonel Yuri A. Skibenko visited JFC Lisbon Headquarters while the SEVEROMORSK was paying an unofficial visit to Lisbon Port during her transit to Horn of Africa.

On 02 May, 2011, two French Mirage 2000 RDI fighter jets on operational duty took off for the first time on real alert (Alpha Scramble) from the air base in Siauliai, Lithuania, as part of Operation 2011 Baltic air policing above the Baltic countries.

Admiral James Stavridis, Supreme Allied Commander Europe, visited Kosovo on May 17th. He was met at Pristina's International Airport by Major General Erhard Buhler, Commander, KFOR and then proceed to KFOR HQ at Film City with complements of the KFOR Honour Guard.

KABUL, Afghanistan (May 17, 2011)- The International Security Assistance Force said the combined team approach has paid off, and while this progress is fragile and reversible, they look forward to building on those successes and supporting the Afghans as they build sustainable stability.

In the early hours of 16 May, maritime forces engaged in the NATO-led Operation Unified Protector detected two rigid-hull inflatable boats (RHIBs) that appeared to have deployed from the vicinity of Zlintan and were headed towards Misrata. NATO forces reacted by sending warships and helicopters to investigate and identify the RHIBs.
