NATO AIRCOM, LANDCOM and MARCOM Commanders meet

NORTHWOOD, UK – On Wednesday, 11 September 2013, Commander NATO Allied Air Command, General Frank Gorenc, and Commander NATO Allied Land Command, Lieutenant General Ben Hodges visited Northwood for three way staff talks with Commander NATO Allied Maritime Command Vice Admiral Peter Hudson.

During the visit, the three NATO staff component commanders discussed ways to improve communication and coordination between the three NATO components.

"This was an invaluable opportunity for us to sit down together and hammer out better coordination between our staffs, as we come out of this period of transition to single source component commands,” said Hudson. "As NATO continues its shift from a deployed force to a prepared force, interoperability between the air forces, the ground forces, and the maritime will be critical to our success.”

Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM) is the central command of all NATO maritime forces and the Commander MARCOM is the prime maritime advisor to the Alliance. Like its land and air counterparts (LANDCOM & AIRCOM), MARCOM answers directly to NATO's Allied Command Operations (ACO) which is located in Mons, Belgium.
